Workshop on Economic and Financial Modelling
The Workshop on Economic and Financial Modelling will take place in Concepción, Chile, on January 11-12, 2027. The workshop will be hosted by the Facultad de Ciencias Económicas y Administrativas, Universidad Católica de la Santísima Concepción (FACEA-UCSC).
The goal of the conference is to promote the exchange of ideas and experience among researchers conducting empirical and theoretical analysis for advanced economic and financial modelling and to contribute to policy and decision making in the public and private sectors.
The event is co-organized by Alejandro Bernales (Universidad de Chile), José Arias (FACEA-UCSC), and Oleksandr Talavera (University of Birmingham, UK).
The conference is sponsored by Elsevier and the journal Economic Modelling. The insights generated at the conference will serve as the foundation for the Special Issue entitled Challenges to Financial Stability in Latin America. CALL FOR PAPERS:
This Special Issue welcomes high-quality empirical and theoretical contributions that examine how global and domestic turmoil influence the dynamics of emerging markets in LA and aim to derive policy-relevant implications.
We welcome contributions addressing, but not limited to, the following topics:
- The implications of climate change and environmental risks for EMs.
- Financial development and its link to economic growth.
- Household finance in LA.
- Geopolitical risks and implications for trade and finance.
- AI, digitalization, and financial stability.
- Rising protectionist policies and their impact on EMs.
- Monetary policy, corporate debt, and financial distress in LA.
- Sovereign debt, inflation targeting, and financial stability.
